Let's face it: for technologists, Hams generally have crappy web sites.  Not this one.   As a professional developer, my hat is off to this Aussie.  Lots of great content. for the vintage enthusiast and Shortwave/Mediumwave DXer.

(from the FAQ)There is so much printed material about radio and television that is becoming harder and harder to find. Libraries are discarding (often to the recycle bin) many titles. Other collections are very limited in access so "the rest of us" can't find information we want. The site began over a decade ago when I found I was often being asked questions I could answer from my own...  READ MORE

Arthur Godfrey became an icon to us with his success in early 1940s and 50s broadcast radio and television both on NBC and CBS. He was also a very well-known and highly regarded Ham Radio Operator with the station call K4LIB. When he died in March 1983 his much sought after QSL Card seems to have disappeared with him. We know he was heard chatting regularly on the 40 and 80 meter bands. Lots of ol...  READ MORE

If you go to pretty much any car company’s website in 2020, you’ll find a “build-and-price” page where you can pick colors and options for any model, see how specs look and get an MSRP. That’s been around for ages, but you might not have seen an older example of a digital car configurator than this incredible “Chevtech Disk Drive” MS-DOS program from the &...  READ MORE

Having recently scored a vintage Hallicrafters SX-122, one of the best Receivers Hallicrafters ever made, I was dismayed to find it was missing the HA-7 Crystal Calibrator. By themselves, they are very rare, and go for probably as much as the whole radio on Ebay when one does show up.I downloaded the HA-7 manual from BAMA (It was part of the SX-122 manual) and surmised what it would take to build ...  READ MORE

"There are many interesting Swan modification articles available in the back issues of 73 magazine for free download.  The old 73 magazine archives also contain a lot of useful information on other amateur radios and amateur radio related related topics as well. Since we're all sitting around the house these days, it can provide some additional topical reading material."73 ...  READ MORE

[ The Delphi language is proof positive that all the best things are not necessarily household names.  Not only was Borland's Delphi OOP language (ObjectPascal) superior to every compiled, client-executable solution out there from vendors like Microsoft and PowerBuilder, its IDE was years ahead of its time.  To this day, I compare all the languages I run into to this groundbreaker.&n...  READ MORE
